Oregan TV Browser 3.0 to enable Dynamic HTML and Macromedia®
Flash® 6.0 rendering on IPTV and Digital TV Set Top Boxes.
Oregan's browser for consumer electronics resolves W3C standards adherence challenges
in the embedded space, providing advanced TV user interfaces and internet media delivery
capabilities.
London, United Kingdom, 18th October 2004 - Oregan Networks, London-based provider of software building blocks for embedded entertainment platforms, has launched its next generation
TV Browser 3.0, featuring support for HTML 4.01, XHTML1.0, JavaScript 1.5, CSS-2, CSS-TV,
and DOM-2 enabling Dynamic HTML. The new browser has a compact 2MB footprint and
executes within 16MB SDRAM.
Unique to Oregan's new development is its Macromedia® Flash® 6.0 compatible plug-in,
delivering outstanding Flash® file rendering performance on low powered embedded CPUs. The
latest Macromedia® Flash® player module is pre-integrated as part of Oregan™ TV Browser 3.0, allowing customers to deploy a complete internet media access solution without additional licences
or integration effort.
Oregan CEO, Mark G Perry said, "The expectations of TV browsing and
User Interface experience have changed radically since the category was
introduced in 1995. Today's TV-centric browser market demands
sophisticated yet commercially viable solutions that do not require
utilisation of costly PC hardware architectures. The ability to render
Dynamic HTML and Macromedia® Flash® content on a mere 150 MIPS
embedded CPU is an accomplishment that makes Oregan's product optimal
for delivering PC-levels of web browsing and user interface
presentation on low-cost, resource-limited consumer electronics
devices."
The functionality of the Oregan TV browser 3.0 is that of a universal user interface, facilitating total
media control. It is a part of the Oregan™ Media Browser solution, which incorporates a complete
set of client-side building blocks for delivery of premium services, content and media to consumer
electronics products, Digital TV platforms, IPTV / VOD deployments and gaming consoles.
Today, Oregan enables internet content on a multitude of devices deployed by leading global
consumer electronics manufacturers and network operators. Current products and services from
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) on PlayStation 2, along with NTT, Access Devices
and Philips Electronics on IPTV devices - account for Oregan's significant proliferation within their
respective entertainment markets: Consumer Electronics, gaming consoles, telecommunications and
hospitality entertainment.
